Crazy Testimonies (: Oct 4 - Oct 9 2008

Wow (:

Prepping cell for a time of testimonies, got me reading some of my old ones, and I'm so inspired by how real God is, and how on fire I was back then, and all the crazy things that were happening. I believe there is a spiritual releasing that happens when you go back there, the gifts and power and anointing that was there, so yeah (:

A huge reason why we should do testimonies. On its own. Hahhahaa. And encourages me to do this next one that is nagging me. Ugh. Well. I'd better post this! WARNING. REALLY REALLY LONG.

SEPTEMBER 08

In the month of September, God has been using my love for a couple of really really close friends in SAJC, Charlene and Charmaine, to lead me to commit to praying for them frequently for their promos, and using that time of prayer to lead me into pray for other people and other things as well, like other people’s studies, and for my relationship with my family to improve. It was quite cool because at first all I prayed for was for the ability and love to pray more, and after a while prayer just came easily and I was doing it without thinking about it much, but as I look back now I can see the direct result of that first prayer, that God really DID lead me into praying more(:

OCTOBER 08

I’ve been reading this book, or starting to read this book that Yisin lent me, If You Want To Walk On Water You Have To Get Out Of The Boat, by John Ortberg. It’s a book about stepping out in faith out against fear, out of your comfort zone, and it’s a book that I’m going through really slowly, it urges you to pray a lot and do a lot of soul-searching, asking God and yourself what are your deepest fears, what makes you feel safe outside of God, identifying your boat and inspiring you to step out of it, showing you the importance of stepping out, that if you step out, every time you do, it gets easier to step out the next time in obedience to God’s voice, because you’ve learnt to trust Him. And if you don’t step out, the chances of you stepping out the next time are even less. I’ve only gone through 5 chapters, and not all of them thoroughly, and already its made such an impact on me. Because one of the biggest things I struggle with all the time is fear. Fear of something going wrong. Fear of getting hurt. Fear that people will judge me, will think I’m desperate for attention, so I don’t say hi to people that I want to say hi to. Fear of a lot of things. And I resolve that as I go to a whole week of camps in my last week of school, I’m going to step out against fear in faith. I don’t know for what, but I will.

SATURDAY 4/10/08

Sherry, 14, from Crescent Girls Sec School, told me that God wanted me to be His Voice. I wasn’t overly surprised, because it tied in with my calling by God that He has confirmed at least twice already.

SUNDAY 5/10/08

I went for dinner with my family! In the weeks since God told me to go back and attend family church on Sunday, my relationship with them has been slowly improving, and today at dinner I was able to have a discussion with my father about the Charismatic Movement, and what I believe in! Like, a comprehensive argument, and although there was no real conclusion to that argument, it was a big thing for me because in the past two years I have not been able to talk to my father AT ALL, let alone stand up for what I believe in. And I was grateful, and able to see that this was a result of prayer, prayer that God has been leading me more and more to do. When Sharyl shared her own breakthroughs with her family lately, and how it was a result of prayer, I was still actually quite sceptical, not seeing how God could do His work in my own family. But now I am so amazed (:

When I got home so awed, and amazed, I blogged about it, and called people to read it, because its such a cool thing! Haha. In response to that, Sherry sent me a message telling me that God said: “Pray continuously, and receive in joy and gladness what God has in store for you”. Which was cool in itself, because it was an encouragement to keep on pressing, and keep on prayer, and revel in the power of frequency of prayer and God’s goodness, which He had just shown me.

Two hours later though, at 1 AM, Joanna, 19, from LSCT in Ngee Ann, sent me the verse 1 Thess 5: 16-18 : “ Be joyful always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” And I was overawed, when I read the Bible to find it! I mean, it was almost exactly the same thing that Sherry had sent me two hours ago, and these two people definitely don’t know each other, let alone what each other had said! So I definitely can’t ignore that verse right, with God hammering it so closely in my face. He definitely has an intent for me in that verse (:

However, I was notified by the EXCO of the Ngee Ann Student Union, which I’m supposed to be a part of but resigned because God told me to, that I have to go for a compulsory leadership training camp for the EXCO in school from Friday to Sunday, and if I don’t go, I have to pay 850 dollars! And I didn’t really want to go, because the situation was rather awkward between me and the remaining EXCO (because I quit), and with already having to go to two different camps from Monday till Thursday, I wanted to stay home sometime this week, school starting the very next week and I had to go to church anyway on Saturday and Sunday. So many other things I could do with the time, for God, or for other people! Yeah. But in light of what God has been showing me recently with the power of prayer and the verse He just gave me, I wasn’t overly discouraged, and committed the whole thing to prayer, asking others to pray for me as well, but understanding that if I did have to go to the camp in order to not pay the 850 dollars, He wanted me there for a reason. Yeah. So it was relatively okay (:

MONDAY 6/10/08

Lugged myself to Campus Crusade Camp, which would have lasted for 4 days from Monday to Thursday at Changi Fairy Point, in the bungalow chalets by the sea. I couldn’t go for the whole camp though, I had another compulsory Student Leader Prep Camp organized by the NP Ambassadors (who are the outreach arm of the school) for Red Camp 5 (which is the outreach 3 day camp for 3000 Sec 4 students) on Wednesday to Thursday, so my plan was to leave on Wednesday morning after morning prayer(:

Camp was amazing! We entered into a time of praying and asking God what He brought us individually here for, and I realized very quickly that this was the reason why He had impressed upon me the very 1 Thess 5: 16-18. That He wanted me to use this camp to continue to cultivate a habit of continual prayer and worship without fear, taking advantage of the lifestyle of worship that would be at such a camp, and as I was being open and unafraid to express my love to Him at camp, that this would encourage and help other people at the camp in turn to open up and worship Him openly without fear, and be blessed because of it, you know? So that was amazing.

On the first night, during worship before the message, I was worshipping in joy, due to all the good things He had been blessing me with over the past few days, but something was a bit off. I wasn’t feeling desperate. Because God had yeah, been so real to me over the past few days, it was like I was getting “used” to having Him around? And this was not good. Haha. I didn’t want to grow complacent. So I started asking God for trials, for risks, for the wilderness, so I’d be able to cling onto Him desperately and not grow complacent. And He said, “You want trials? Keann? You want the wilderness? Then step out and take them! The trials are right in front of you, stepping out and evangelising to the next person you see on the street, that’s a trial! And there’re so many of them! If you want to walk on water, then step out of the boat!”

And I was like “ :o”. Remember the book I was reading? It tied in totally in that! Which was crazy (: Haha. Yeah.

The message was given by a speaker, Elaine. And her message spoke so much to me, in so many areas, and I was really quite overcome. The message was about trust. And trusting God. To believe even if you’re scared. Because trust does not mean lack of fear, fear is always going to be there, but the difference is stepping out against it anyway! And then she started talking about this course that she did called SWAA, and her testimony during the Treasure Hunt Activity. And yeah, the four of us from COOS there, Sharyl, Cerise, Alison and I, kinda spazzed out. Haha. So cool. She started talking about how when you trust God and step out, you discover a little bit more that God CAN be trusted! And a little more, and a little more, and you have more power to step out the next time! I was kinda spazzing out at this point, because everything she was saying matched up EXACTLY with the book I I had in my bag right there, that I had been reading slowly over the past few days. It was a very scary thing. But so cool. Haha. She started talking about Abraham, and the story of Isaac. How even when God asked Abraham to offer his son as a flesh sacrifice, Abraham remembered the promise that God made to him about his destiny and the destiny of his son, that he would become the father of Israel, and he had faith that God would bring Isaac back. And she was telling us that if God has promised us a destiny, don’t ever lose faith in it, He’s going to bring us there somehow! And of course this whole time, I am greatly encouraged, and thinking about Sherry telling me just a few days before, “God wants you to be His Voice”.

Altar Call was crazy. There were three altar calls that night, and I went up for the third one, which was for those who have been touched by God about a destiny for them in Him. Full-time or otherwise. And the cool thing that happened was, I met this guy standing next to me, and instead of waiting for prayer, we ended up talking, and sharing our callings, and praying for one another! And then we were led to run around and pray for other people, with the love overflowing out of us through God’s love for us. And all around the room, this was happening. People designated to pray for others were getting prayed for, words of encouragement being spoken, people crying, God moving, and it was crazy. And eventually I was prayed for as well, by this guy, Dillan, who sensed that my relationship with my earthly father was kinda rocky even though I never told him that, and overall it was a very cool night (:

There was this girl there, Joyce, who wasn’t part of the Campus Crusade camp, but was a cell member of the speaker’s, Elaine, cell. And I knew her because we worked before very closely for Freshmen Orientation Camp for Ngee Ann Student Union, the Union that I was resigning from. And it was amazingly cool because I was able to share with her everything, how God led me to quit that organization, and my fears and struggles that the other EXCO really don’t like me now, and my problem regarding the 850 dollars camp on Friday. And she could understand because like me, she knew all those people personally as well, they were people we had both worked with closely, individually. And we prayed, prayed for me and my problem with the camp, and we prayed for the Student Union, which is a place very far from God right now.

TUESDAY 7/10/08

Tuesday was awesome. During the group sharing sessions, before it came to my turn, God impressed on me that He wanted me to declare publicly that I had a problem, a severe one, struggling with pornography since Sec 2. Now this is something that even Keenan, who I tell almost everything to, doesn’t know about me. And I had been struggling, trying to deal with it on my own strength, and a couple of people knew about my problem, but its not the same as declaring it publicly. You know? And I did feel fear. A lot of it. My heart was thumping, my fingers were trembling, but in light of everything that had been happening over the past few days, through the book I was reading, through Elaine’s message the previous night, I was prepared for that fear, and prepared to step out into the light no matter what. As I tell this now, this is the 8th time since then I have been able to declare of my struggle with pornography, and each time it gets a little easier. The 2nd time was hard, the 3rd time a little less hard, and so on! Like the book and Elaine said, it gets a little easier every time! Trusting God! And I am being set free, and up till this date I have not sinned in that way yet, even though I have been tempted, and I’m going to seek an accountability group and everything, learning that this is something I am going to keep fighting and fighting until the day I die, being male, but gosh am I going to keep fighting. And keep declaring. Haha.

And what was cool was that as I shared, the guy next to me managed to share about his own struggles with porn as well, and another guy, and how he managed to stay free of it up till now with an accountability group and everything, and we were all greatly encouraged. The girls too. So if you go back and look at my second expectation for camp, which was let God shine through me stepping out in faith and worship and prayer and encourage other people to come closer to God as well, that was fulfilled greatly that day, and I am glad (:

Before the service, suddenly I was overcome by this urge to call my friend, Josh Simon, to get him to come to the camp and be blessed by God. Because I really worry about his spiritual walk a lot, he is a person that has so much potential and so many gifts given to him by God, but those same gifts and talents, in music and dance and everything, also can leave him very distracted by the secular world, and I called him and asked him to come down, on impulse, knowing full well I was asking the impossible. He stayed at Bukit Panjang, the camp was at Changi, it was already 7pm. But God can do anything, and after Josh said he would think about it, I put down the phone and started praying. I asked Sharyl to pray. I asked other people in the camp who knew him to pray. And the the service started.

Worship was awesome, as always. As I stood there worshipping God, I was telling God that I really didn’t want to leave the next morning to go to that other camp. That I wanted to stay, to stay in a place where so many people, including me, are learning and growing and being healed and being blessed, and God’s Presence is clearly here and I want to stay and worship Him, and if He wanted me to stay and sacrifice the other camp, I would gladly do so. But then God said, go. He told me that even as yes he wanted to grow and teach and restore all these other people at camp, specifically He wanted me to go do His work now, out on the frontline, that I had been restored enough, for now. That He wanted me to bring the spirit of worship that I had been learning from this camp to the other camp, and take the camp for God. So that was cool. Haha. Then I realised, that it really was okay for me to go for the other camp, for when I signed up to be a Student Leader for Red Camp, I didn’t make the mistake I made when I ran for office at Student Union, and I asked God first! And he said yes back then! Which shows that He had already taken all this into account already(:

And by and by, after the message ended, Josh called me and told me that he was on his way, and at Tampines. And I praised God. Haha. Prayer does work! Praying continually! 1 Thess 5:16-18!

And so I left the camp the next morning after morning prayer on the jetty by the sea as the sun was rising, where me and another friend, Melodie, prayed that as I left the camp, that I really would bring the spirit of worship over to the other camp, that doors would be opened for me and that it would be an effective time, even as I left in faith.

WEDNESDAY 8/10/08

Student Leader/ Red Camp camp was a blast. Megafun, as always. But even in all that fun, God helped me to remember my purpose for coming for this camp, my purpose for coming here, and He also helped me to pray for all those people back at Campus Crusade camp at Changi, all the people in my group, and especially Josh Simon. Yeah. At night, I pulled a few people together, close friends, and asked them if we could meet for prayer at 12.30am! And they said yes! So the result of that was, me, Adin from City Harvest, Priscilla from Hinghwa Methodist Church, and Joyce and Yongjin from Coos met to pray and take this school for God. And the cool thing was that even though I’ve never led Word before EVER in cell, God just led me to use the verse 1 Thess 5:16-18 to prepare for the session, and he helped me plan on how to do everything, and it was a really good time of sharing and prayer, sitting at the void deck praying in plain sight, not hiding, even as everyone else is having fun playing away upstairs in the apartments of our sleeping area. And I was so grateful for everyone who came down(: What actually happened, was that after we went through the prayer points derived from the verse 1 Thess 5: 16-18, God led us in a time of praying for friends, backslided Christians in this camp, for Adin, a boy in his cell group that was going to go to the Boy’s Home, and people in this camp that we loved so, so much, were such wonderful people but were not Christians, and it broke our hearts to think that they were not going to go to heaven with us ):

So yeah, it was awesome.

THURSDAY 9/10/08

Camp ended today. It was crazily amazing fun. And what happened was that our group tribe, Apaches, had dinner together and went to the playground to chill. People had to go home though, and soon at 9pm-ish there were only 3 of us left, me, this girl called Faith, and this girl called Ning.

And we were talking, and suddenly Ning started breaking down and telling us about how she had no sense of purpose, she didn’t know what she was doing in this school, that she came to Poly only because she didn’t want her friends to see her as a failure after quitting JC, and she couldn’t understand why she was doing well when she clearly didn’t deserve it, and people who were so motivated in her course weren’t doing as well as her. She started sharing that that the reason why she left JC was because she wasn’t in school 80% of the time, she was always sick and as a result didn’t know what was going on in school, and then she told us that the reason why she was always in the hospital was that she kept trying to kill herself, over and over again. And they admitted her to psychiatric wards, and tried to cure her by means of this electroshock therapy, where they pass an electric current through your brain and its supposed to refire your brain cells or something. At this point, she said she was hallucinating, that she could see weird things and she felt like earthworms were eating her ears? Things like that. And she went for the treatments monthly, the doctors didn’t even know how it worked, only that it worked, but the problems kept coming back. And her memory was damaged because of the treatments. She told us that she could remember who her classmates were, and what her class was, but she couldn’t remember experiences with them, nor what she used to value. And I was listening to all of this, I could not NOT share the gospel, you know? It was like God was lining up ducks for me to shoot at at a fair and there’s this huge voice foghorning inside my brain going “THIS IS REAL, THIS IS WHAT YOU’VE BEEN PRAYING FOR, THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT WORK YOU HAVE TO DO FOR ME, TAKE IT.”

And so I did(: I didn’t even know Faith was a Christian, but I couldn’t let this pass, you know? And this was the first time ever I’ve ever shared the gospel. I don’t think I did it awesomely well, I was worried so much that I was saying the wrong thing, and I think it was a very messy sharing, but I guess I believe that everything I said, and the way I said it, were the words that God put in my mouth for Ning to hear, and I’m going to believe in faith that seed has been sown, and I’m really praying she will come under God’s protection, for I believe that all the things she shared that she is going through really are spiritual attacks, you know? Yeah. The sharing took from 9pm to 12am, and I had to take a cab home, but seriously now. Treasures in heaven vs treasures on earth. This is so much more pressing. Haha. You know like a guy who reads comics and watches superhero movies all his life, and suddenly discovers he does have powers, he CAN fly, and suddenly he’s fighting for his life and getting into something way bigger than he is? And he doesn’t really know what he’s doing? That’s what it felt like. Haha. But I’m glad I did it (: Ning hasn’t accepted the gospel yet, but we are praying (:

It doesn’t end yet. After we sent Ning home in a cab, Faith and I were talking, and we prayed a little more, for her and for Ambassadors, and then I took a cab home myself. And I switched on my phone, which I had turned off because of camp, and suddenly in the cab all these messages started flooding in, words of love and encouragement and prayer from the people in my group from Campus Crusade camp! Like, my phone was beeping again and again and again and going off like crazy and I was so overcome? It was like after putting myself out there for God, and sharing the gospel in a very emotionally draining way, God was like giving me nourishment, giving me food, welcoming me back, saying “Good job, Keann, here is your reward.”

And I was so overcome, and everything was happening so fast. It keeps getting better. As I held my phone, I had this need to call as many people as I could, to pray for Ning’s salvation and protection. But I realised that the first thing I must do, is to call my mom and tell her I’m okay and that I’m coming home now, because the camp was supposed to end at 6pm, and my phone is off and its 12 am, and she must be worried sick, and I have to apologise and explain to her that I was sharing the gospel. Yeah. And then I get off the phone with my mom, and I realise that I don’t have enough money to pay for the taxi that I’m sitting in ._.

But in light of everything, I can’t not pray, right? Haha. And so I prayed and asked God to handle it for me, and then I asked the taxi driver, and HE OFFERED TO TAKE ME HOME FOR FREE (:

So cool! Haha. The coolest bit was, he said it was okay because I was a good boy, that I had a family, and he wouldn’t do it for a bad boy but I’m a good boy. And I realised that he overheard my conversation with my mom, and I realised that actually before I even prayed, God had already handled the situation for me by making me realise the most important thing is to honour my parents, considering that not so long ago I really wouldn’t care at all whether I stayed out late or whether my parents were worrying and I wouldn’t tell them anything. So it was totally awesome (:

And yeah. Haha. Its been crazy. I mean, coming back to the verse 1 Thess 5:16-18, all that God has been teaching me through it, to pray continually, and to be obedient to God, and to step out in faith against fear, so much has been happening! From being restored myself and set free from the prison of pornography, and being sent to do his work, leading “Word” and prayer for the first time, and then going to the very front line of the front lines to do battle with the gospel! Its been a mad mad week and it all started through prayer, and the frequency of prayer (:

And you know, the icing on the cake? Josh Simon, the guy we were praying for? By all accounts, on the last day, the day I wasn’t there, he really bonded with the people there, and was really impacted by the camp and by God! So that’s amazingly cool. And another thing? Remember that 850 dollar Student Union Camp? I called the President of the EXCO after all of this had happened, on Thursday night, and he told me I didn’t have to go or pay 850 dollars!!! My God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus! Yay (:

Its really been an amazing time, every single thing that God has been leading me to pray for this week has come to pass. He’s met every single need I’ve had, everything, and really its all through the power of prayer! So prayer does work! Pray and pray and pray! 1 Thess 5: 16-18! (: And as school starts next week, I’m going to try this thing where the Christians in my class get together everyday we see each other before class to pray. I don’t really know how its going to go. And its definitely going to be scary. But I will pray for it, and persevere, and I can’t wait to see what will happen. God has been so good to me (:

-----------------------------------------

Hahhaa. chow. That set of verses, 1 Thess 5: 16-18, has become an amazing mantra for me over the past years, and really shaped me. God has really given me joy, and people keep affirming that.

Another thing that hit me....Joanna, Sherry, etc. I realised the power of testimonies is that it has the power to re-inspire people who are in your testimonies, who have a gigantic impact on your life due to the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, even if they're going through dark and distant from God times now.

Yeah. So.....yeah (: power of community!

Okay. Later (:

Facebook Archive - 15 Jan 2010

Oh helllo my favourite part of the day.

I'm sincerely sorry for you if you're attempting to read another one of my bus notes, cause once again I have no idea where this is going.

Except for the thought that I need way more elbow room.

So. Uh. Bus with Keenan to church right now. Its been a mad week. Crazy. Still very good, but I'm kinda very miffed that my huge master plan to get so much stuff done, snowballed, day after day, and I do what needs to be done from the day before, and stuff snowballs, and we're faced with a weekend where I'm taking my work home so hopefully next week I can get back on schedule.

Still owe those ^&%#^%$# monthly logs. Granted, I perhaps might have been able to get some of these things done if I didn't use my nights for leisure and resting instead. But where do I draw the line between taking my work home? Am I slacking at work that I have to do this? I don't know, there's really no way to tell, it seems that I do a lot, but what if I'm taking too long over lunch? Too long over emails? Too long over thinking? Could someone else do this a lot faster than I could? Where do I gauge productive thinking time that I need to churn out creative stuff, vs time that I could use to rush admin work?

- music change: rock -

Ah crap I need more rock. Realised a little bit ago that the dance remixes I started this bus ride listening to wasn't what I wanted, and that 'I need more rock'.

Which is surreal. Considering Keenan is right next to me.

I don't mean pop rock. But good old hard punk rock (True rockers don't crucify me, I know very little about this kind of music). Damn. Full-bodied rock. I don't know.

Weird coincidences.

Soooooo.

IS IT ALTERNATIVE. I DON'T KNOW. HAHA.

Now playing We The Kings. Its too soft, but that's the loudest that the iTunes can go. Yes, I'm a blaster, full-surround sound, if I can hear anything else, its not loud enough.

The cell is hurrying us. Haha. Hmmm. Ahhh this cell. I miss this cell. But, i don't know, I'm also going to miss my sitting at night listening to the radio pattern, really loved that last night, learning, and by the time I get back, Sebastian and Penny are going to be over! And Afterhours too.

My home fm radios can't tune into 987 for some reason. I could do it on the net I suppose.....

Headphones still too soft. If I can still hear my bus around me in the middle of a peak hour jam, its not loud enough!

Haha. Seriously need more drown-myself-rock.

I don't have the new Green Day stuff on the Mac....

- gets off bus -

Cell was completely absolutely so mindblowingly exhilaratingly brilliant. Haha. Laughed so hard, deejayed, and even danced a bit, Shereen and Barney were trying out moves! I'm almost all better, so glad I went (:

And the long windy walk back with Charmaine was just icing on the cake.

Yeah.

Good day (:

I'm back to my Kristina Debarge, Jordin Sparks, gentle R&B, by the way. Haha. Probably will stumble to Alicia Keys sometime tonight!

Night!

A couple of years
And I'm gonna know your name
It's like I waited for ya forever
And I know this might sound insane
But it won’t be long
Till we're gonna take this up
I'm talking about our future love

You're so far away
Maybe you're right next door
Got me picturing your face again
Something worth waiting for
I put all the others behind me
They don't live up
I know what I want
What I need to the T

Baby if they asked me
I would say I don't even know your name
And when they ask me
Does it change?
No, it don't change a thing
‘Cause there's something
About the way you'll love me
There's just something
About the way you'll know me
That I can’t explain enough
There's just something about our
Future love
Future love
Future love
There's just something about our
Future love
Future love
Future love

Walking hand in hand
Going on a second date
I can picture how we touch
And a kiss I can almost taste
I imagine all the ways
We'll meet for the very first time
I can see the place
Feel the love at first sight

Baby if they asked me
I would say I don't even know your name
And when they ask me
Does it change?
No, it don't change a thing
‘Cause there's something
About the way you'll love me
There's just something
About the way you'll know me
That I can’t explain enough
There's just something about our
Future love
Future love
Future love
There's just something about our
Future love
Future love
Future love

Oh-no
The minute you pull up next to me
We standing there like destiny
When it feels like you're fighting
Just to breathe that's when you know
The minute I pull up next to you
Suddenly I don't know what to do
Everything inside you says that I'm the one

Baby if they asked me
I would say I don't even know your name
And when they ask me
Does it change?
No, it don't change a thing
‘Cause there's something
About the way you'll love me
There's just something
About the way you'll know me
That I can’t explain enough

Baby if they asked me
I would say I don't even know your name
And when they ask me
Does it change?

Wow so here I am. My first note in ages, and its being done on a bus, I'm in a good mood, Josh's dance mixes and club tracks playing in my headphones, trundling to town, simply cause I'm bored and have no reading material.

Hmm. That's right, no emo struggling issue today, or huge insight to ponder, which isn't how I envisioned my first note coming back, but hey.

Seems totally true to nature. Haha. Random, impulsive, completely irrational, racing to town to bump into Rachael, Angie and some people, before rushing to cell which is in 24 minutes, but I'm not headed there straight simply cause the next 970 is gonna take 20 minutes to come and I refuse to be waiting that long, I might as well head into town ._.

Its not that I don't have issues anymore. Haha. Broke down on Monday, rather graphically, its the first time since I can't remember when that I let myself depend on friends, instead of trying to stay strong or positive for them.

The newsroom at Heatwave is now officially the breakdown room. Haha. The amount of talks and other emotionally fragile moments that have happened in there...we should rent it out man. "Want a nice snazzy soundproof room to cry in with the lights off? Come to RadioHeatwave.com! There's the minor issue of everyone being able to see you through the windows, but we can cover those up don't worry about it. Call us at 6460 8382...."

But I'm all good. Haha. Thanks. And above all, thank you Josh and Juu for being there, its all good and it speaks volumes about how much I trust you that I allow myself to cry around you. I needed that though, was tonnes good for me. I'm great with crying in private, but allowing myself to ask for help, and be raw in front of someone else, I really needed that. Thanks guys. And of course Adin and whoever else was around (:

Sooo emo. Haha. Bus is pretty cramped right now! Going past....SCGS? And of course I'm typing with two hands.

Everyday now I thank God so much that I have two hands.

Still not sure what the point of this note is! HAHA. Bumping along the road with club remixes and dance tracks.....awesome work/travel music. Haha thank youuuuu deejay josh. :D

American woman next to me on the bus reading her e-book reader next to me seems cool.

On that note, there was this totally cute girl trying to get on the crowded 74 on the stop after school. Haha. Awwww. I was stuck right at the front door, where you're already trying to dodge the closing doors while standing on the steps, and she was the only one at the bus stop, and totally unsure whether she should come on or not! Soooo cute. Hahaha. I was trying to make space for her, a little bit, OUT OF THE GOODNESS OF MY HEART, NOT CAUSE SHE WAS CUTE OKAY MAYBE, but no one in front of me seemed to be moving!

And the bus uncle had to ask her if she wanted to get on the bus. Hahahaa.

No, the totally gorgeous and confident Keann did not hit on her. Sorrryyyy lahhhh I'm totally the shyest person on earth yes.

Speaking of girls.

Oh do I really want to do this now. HAHA.

I GUESS NOT.

OKAY MAYBE.

WELL OKAY NAH

BUT UH.

._.

I'll leave my heart to debate on whether I want to talk about girls or not, while my brain registers that I'm at Novena, its gonna be 730 in 6 minutes, and Lies Remixed is a totally awesome track.

Shiz yeah :D

Hmmmmmm girls. Ah, but there's no one!

I'm too flippant at the moment to do a deep "seeking love" post, and still too protective of my heart to do the "omg so and so is really cute" with hints of who these people are. I firmly believe that talking about secret crushes can ruin lives, and if I wanted to hint it, it always does more damage than its worth.

Huh. So no talking about what my fingers are dying to type about right now, BUT ITS ALL GOOD.

Is there somebooodyyyyy. Who still believes in looooovvveee,

I'm just killing time really. Sorry if you came here for a totally introspective life-illuminating post, but I don't think that's where this is going right now, especially since I'm getting off soon D:

Ohhhhh nuts its 730 now shouldn't I just stay at town. Of course not, I stop by Rachael and the others for like 2 minutes, and then I run to the bus stop and put my remixes back in my headphones.

Waiting for the 970 back at school would take the same time anyway D: I feel a bit more productive this way, as well as exciting. Haha.

I NEEEEDD NEW CLOTHESSSS. I TOTALLY DON'T FEEL LIKE I'M WEARING WHAT I FEEL I SHOULD BE WEARING.

Hmmmmmphhhh. Oh Christmas lights are off D:

Getting off v v soon! Like two stops. At least I THINK that's where they are, which is the Cathay....uhhhhh.

They better not be at Far East. Haha.

OKAY LATER. Thanks for staying tuned to this not-so-regularly-scheduled-okay-who-are-we-kidding-not-at-all-totally-pointless-but-totally-awesome-thoughtbit of Keann.

LATER :D

-aftermath-

Uh. Haha that was interesting! HMMMMMM.

*grabs music and headphones and chills on a double decker home*

SO HI YEAH I'M ALMOST LATE, AND I GRABBED A CAB, AND THERE GOES THE 15 BUCKS MY MOM PROVIDENTIALLY GAVE ME ):

Sigh. What was I going to say? Oh yeah. I wasn't going to write today. Thought I'd steal my brother's DS and play Pokemon all the way to school to destress.

Hey, hard-earned k. Been working the whole day, then working on website while drifting in and out of sleep, on a very tired constitution.

And of course it still isn't done. But not for lack of trying...I wish I could return to the days where I could put in an all-in for work, and not sleep for two days to finish work, and feel miserable the next day and crash very fast for very long. But my body no longer allows me to get away with that, if I don't get sleep, my productivity plummets drastically, I can't turn it off anymore, and my body drags me to bed eventually, whether its a bed, chair, floor, canteen table...

GOOOOOO TAXI DRIVER SPEEEEED RACERRRR.

Yup so anyhoo, my work isn't done. It will be done today, at the same rate of productivity had I managed to hit it all last night and collapse today in a drunken stupor, but I do wish I had the latter somehow, at least it would have been done earlier :/

I feel pretty good though, today is another day where I can't do anything on my own BUT GOD CAN, AND GOD IS AMAZING, SO TODAY WILL BE AMAZING.

Rarrgh.

Plus all the friends that I love very dearly that I will get to see, but seeing them detracts from my productivity...equals?

Don't answer that.

Hmmph.

I was pondering in the shower in my usual shower-ponder:

It doesn't matter what we have achieved in life as long as we are happy, excited and entertained in every moment of it. And if we're not happy, excited and entertained reaching for an achievement, perhaps we should re-evaluate our goals.

Personally, what makes me happy, excited and entertained in day-to-day moments, is finding other people searching to be happy, excited and entertained in day-to-day moments, who coincidentally are happy, excited and entertained when they find me, someone who is deliriously happy when I find people like them.

And so me and my friends gain the ability to be happy and high about nothing else other than the knowledge of each other existing.

This happens more often than you might think. HAHAHAHAHHAHA.

Hello God,

Lots of stuff I want to write, I think. Rah. But first, hi. Just typing out a bit of stuff makes me feel better already, its clear that writing does make me feel better, just like showering does, and the devil always wants to rob me of that by telling me just how much trouble it is, what a hassle...

And so of course I haven't written for a very long while. But there's just something awesome about rambling onto a page without care for any structure except the state my mind already is it, I am writer, editor and subeditor of the Keann Magazine.

Hurhurhurrr. Anyhoo. I feel like crap. Actually now that I've started writing, I feel a bit less like crap, but still. Where's the perfect joy you promised, God. Cause I don't really feel that right now.

I feel stressed, Dad. Rah. And very inadequate. Yes, I know you will meet all my needs. Just gotta depend on you. But sometimes dad, it feels like I'm doing that, and stuff isn't happening. You aren't coming through. It doesn't feel good.

Then you do come through a little bit, simple thing like the bus coming just when I ask you to send it, awesome friends like Liz being there to support me, Red Camp being absolutely freaking brilliant..

Then the little bad things come in, like losing my keys, having insurmountable website odds to beat, personality posters not up yet, not a single gig done, not a single event done, committees not doing anything yet cause I haven't asked them to, and me being all over the place trying to scramble organisation into my life, which really isn't my strong suit and all.

Its hard to remember that everything happens for a reason, somehow, now, though everything I've learnt in the past, and everything I've experienced, great things that they are, have shown me that. I keep trying to tap onto your joy and peace with faith, but I don't see much happening.

I mean, partly its my fault as well. You know how hard it is for me to do work, God. You know how hard it is for me to just get started. And even now radio seems like work, and today I woke up feeling good, and suddenly its gone again.

I feel very dry and brittle, I can be emotionally high and healthy and go from that to zero in two seconds because of all the things that are plaguing me.

I know this isn't the way.

I know I'm more than a conqueror, but right now it seems like I'm doing a whole lot of hanging on and not a whole lot of conquering. And I don't like that. I don't like seeing my limitations. Where's the complete victory you promised, God?

And then I remember that the huge things that I'm going through is nothing compared to disasters in the Philippines, people losing loved ones, war zones, scared little children getting raped day in and day out.

And I feel even smaller. How could I possibly think my problems are that big....but they are, you know?

I refuse though. I refuse to join the masses that ask "God why is this happening. God, why do you make bad things happen. There isn't a God."

I flat-out refuse to go there. It scares me to let myself go there. I want to go out fighting, knowing there is a God I believe in that does good things for me.

Because I have seen it, felt it, heard His Voice, seen his miracles happen right before my eyes and confirmed but I really His Word, and even if I'm not emotionally hyped up by all of it now, I'm digging in. With all my gut.

I do wish I could be in it again, though. And I know it can happen at just a drop of a hat. God can come and sweep in and leave me slack-jawed, just like He loves to, and keep me rushing in a river of joy and hope and power, nothing can go wrong, overflowing and brimming with love.

And so I try to expect it every day. You know. The schoolwork miracles. Like the kind I used to have. All of that. The "I give up this for God" and "he comes through with my schoolwork that I hardly had time to do and I score well miraculously".

And it doesn't happen. ALl that happens now is that my work doesn't get done.

And its a bit tiring, Dad. I know, somewhere, deep down, that you meet all my needs, but I really could catch a break, you know?

Of course, perhaps the reason I feel this way, is that the disciplining that God told me was my year for it, is working. Like, trial by fire isn't trial by fire if it tickles, you know.

Pushing me beyond my limit, etc. Haha. So in that sense, the reason why I feel so up against the wall, is cause I will need to take all of this that I'm learning and use it in even bigger situations in the future.

I would love to win, now, though, God. I firmly believe that in the midst of all this trial it is completely possible and natural to laugh my way through, and celebrate in victory. Its everything that I've been taught.

But its v v hard.

Which I think is the point.

Teaching me the endurance I lack, instead of the instant "fast-food" zero-to-hero rush I'm used to, and revel in.

But its not fun.

Which I think is the point.

See the circular logic here? HAHAHAHA.

Okay now that's funny. Maybe the conditioning's working.

Brrrr. I'm glad I wrote, though. Getting it all down on paper really helps my mind to keep track and not get lost and distracted, at the speed that it moves.

Hahahaha. Well. Gonna hit school, and worship. I'm looking forward to it now.

Today's gonna be a crazy day, on so many levels, and not instantly-rewarding like Red Camp, or the teenage Christian life that I'm used to.

And I think that's the point. Just gotta keep remembering that.

Now, school, worship first, then everything else (;

For everyone who wakes up in the morning saying "Oh, I'm so desperate. I need so much more of God's touch in my life."

And also for everyone else who feels that their religious routine (corporate prayer, cell) should stop because "they aren't feeling it". Cause you shouldn't. "You don't prove anything by stopping, yet you need a fire burning in there along with those things"

I love how last night I was praying to God to give me a bible reading cause I've been sorely lacking in those and this morning I just stumbled upon this! It really affirmed and encouraged me and now I'm glad I want to jump in the morning, so, brb :D

------------------------------------------------

Take your Bibles and open to 1 Samuel 1. We're going to look at the story of Hannah, and then we have two other portions of Scripture. 1 Samuel 1:9 says,

"So Hannah arose after they had finished eating and drinking in Shiloh. Now, Eli the priest was sitting on the seat by the doorpost of the tabernacle of the Lord. And she was in bitterness of soul and prayed to the Lord and wept in anguish. Then she made a vow and said, 'Oh Lord of hosts, if you will indeed look on the affliction of your maidservant and remember me and not forget your maidservant, but will give your maidservant a male child, then I will give him to the Lord all the days of his life and no razor shall come upon his head.'"

One of the Nazarite vows was to have no razor to your head. Verse 12:

"And it happened as she continued praying before the Lord that Eli watched her mouth. Now Hannah spoke in her heart. Only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard. Therefore Eli thought she was drunk. So Eli said to her, 'How long will you be drunk? Put your wine away from you.' But Hannah answered and said, 'No, my lord. I am a woman of sorrowful spirit. I have drunk neither wine nor intoxicating drink, but have poured out my soul before the Lord. Do not consider your maidservant a wicked woman, for out of the abundance of my complaint and grief I have spoken until now.' Then Eli answered and said, 'Go in peace. The God if Israel grant you your petition which you have asked of Him.'"

Turn with me, if you will, to 2 Samuel 6. We're going to read all three portions before I spend any time talking to you. The setting here is that David already made one attempt to bring the presence of the Lord, the ark of the Covenant, which was God's place of covenant with Israel where they would worship twenty-four hours a day. They didn't do it according to Scripture; as a result somebody died. So now, they're going to try it again with much fear and trembling, yet choosing to be joyful. So begin with verse 12:

Now it was told King David saying, "The Lord has blessed the house of Obed Edom and all that belongs to him because of the ark of God."

The Covenant was placed in Obed Edom's house when the anger of the Lord struck Uzzah and he died. Obed Edom watched over the presence of the Lord. Everything he touched turned to gold from that point on.

So David went up and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed Edom to the city of David with gladness.

In Psalms 2 it says to "rejoice with trembling. We don't always have a clear picture of joy. There are times when things are very, very serious and somber in our lives, yet there is still a possible choice to have joy. In fact, the commandment in Psalms 2:11 is to "rejoice with trembling." So joy isn't always a giddy thing. Sometimes it's knee-slapping humor, pain-in-the-side-from-laughing-so-hard kind of deal. Other times it's extremely sober-minded, yet we choose joy because it's the right thing to do. So I want to put that in this context. Verse 13:

And so it was when those bearing the ark of the Lord had gone six paces he sacrificed oxen and fatted sheep.

I believe, if I remember correctly, it was an eleven mile journey, which was quite a few miles in those days. Some have even said that he made the sacrifices for every seven steps for that entire distance. Verse 14:

"Then David danced before the Lord with all his might, and David was wearing a linen ephod. So David and his entire house brought up the Ark of the Lord with shouting and with the sound of the trumpet. Now as the Ark of the Covenant came into the city of David, Michel, Saul's daughter, looked through a window and saw King David leaping and whirling before the Lord, and she despised him in her heart. So they brought the ark of the Lord and set it in its place in the midst of the tabernacle that David had erected for it. Then David offered burnt offerings and a peace offering before the Lord. And when David had finished offering burnt offerings and peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the Lord of Hosts. Then David returned to bless his household. And Michel, the daughter of Saul came out to meet David and said, 'How glorious was the King of Israel today uncovering himself today in the eyes of the maids of his servants and as one of the base fellows shamelessly uncovers himself.'"

Here's the number one comeback in all of the Bible:

So David said to Michel,

"It was before the Lord who chose me instead of your father and all his house to appoint me ruler over the people of the Lord, over Israel. Therefore I will play music before the Lord, and I will even be more undignified than this and will be humble in my own sight. But as for the maidservants of whom you have spoken, by them I will be held in honor."

There's tremendous truth here that David knew, yet Michel didn't. You can't humble yourself into a place of dishonor. You never lose through humility. You only gain. And so he says, "I will be humble in my own sight. But as for the maidservants of whom you have spoken, by them I will be held in honor." People who have Kingdom values honor those who walk in humility. Verse 23:

Therefore Michel, the daughter of Saul, had no children to the day of her death.

Now, turn to one more passage. Isaiah 54:1:

"'Sing, oh barren, you who have not born. Break into singing and cry aloud you who have not labored with child. For more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married woman,' says the Lord. 'Enlarge the place of your tent. Let them stretch out the curtains of your dwellings. Do not spare. Lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes, for you will expand to the right and to the left, and your descendants will inherit nations and make the desolate cities inhabited.'"

It wouldn't be hard to talk about this today in the natural sense of giving birth to children. If that's a need or cry of your heart, the principle is very obvious. The standard of Scripture is, first the natural, then the spiritual. It has to apply in the natural before it applies in the spiritual. So it's given in a metaphoric sense for a woman who cannot have children. The first mention is here with Hannah. Hannah is unable to have children. She cries out to God. She becomes so desperate that she actually appears drunk.

Religion is the child of the fear of man, and one of the things that the fear of man does is it prevents people from displaying lifestyles of passion. And Christianity was never intended to be dialed down to discipline. It was never meant to be reduced to discipline. You can discipline your way through the Christian life and have certain good effects or positive things that take place because principles are true and truth works. But the Gospel was never meant to be lived out of merely discipline. It was meant to be lived out of passion. We were not born to merely walk a tightrope of obedience out of discipline. We were born to burn with passion for God. What you see in these three cases are three clear descriptions of passion. The first one, of course, is with Hannah. What anybody thought about her didn't bother her very much. Desperate people know what that's like. Desperate people live outside of the fear of the opinions of others. If there were a very shy person in a mall, like a young mother, and somebody took her child, suddenly she would become desperate like this huge she-bear that is willing to pluck the eyes out of any beast in the land. Desperation pulled her out of that position of containment that she'd lived in. Christianity is really sad when it only lives in the realm of discipline. Hannah took on the appearance of drunkenness, not out of intent, but it just happened to show up that way because she was so desperate.

The second story is with David. He was scared to death of another death, but he was more afraid of not having the presence of God. So we find the unusual combination of rejoicing with trembling. They go and they find Obed Edom and the fact that he has prospered with everything he has touched. Then they take the presence of the Lord, carry it on the shoulders of the priest like it was supposed to be done the first time, and take six steps. At the seventh step they stop and they give this offering to the Lord. David takes off his kingly robes. When he takes off his kingly robes, he has on a priest's undergarment called a "linen ephod." The priests had to wear linen in the presence of the Lord. They couldn't wear wool, anything that would make them sweat because God wanted people to realize we could never make it before God by our own works. It's without sweat. If we could just get people to learn how to rest. Rest is such a huge thing. Faith is so important to God, but the emphasis (while I'm not going to disagree with the emphasis or even with much of the teaching I've heard), on faith causes them to strive to have greater faith or strive to believe more. Striving is evidence of real weakness because striving doesn't come out of rest. There's no striving in rest, and faith comes out of rest. It's the place of peace that faith grows out of. When anxiousness comes, when peace seems to dissolve, returning to the place of rest is where you're going to find your expression of faith. Out there striving, fighting devils, fighting thoughts and fighting this and that, is not where faith is found. Faith is found in the place of rest. So, you go back to wherever you lost your peace and work from there to recover true biblical expression of faith.

Faith is huge. I'm going to emphasize it more and more because this whole idea of Jesus coming to earth wondering if He's going to find faith when He arrives is bothersome. I want to make sure that there's a great company of people, every one that we can possibly influence, that are believing believers. It's such an incredible privilege to live in a culture of unbelief and to be a believer. I can't imagine being more honored than to have the privilege to believe God in a culture that just works to deny Him.

We just got a testimony this morning from one of the churches that we work through in Southern California. Someone from their youth group went to Mexico with our team. This last week or last few weeks, this person was in a class at school where the teacher told the class that they could either believe in evolution or they get an F. If they believe in evolution then they get the good grade, if they don't, then they will flunk the class. So this one student who had been with our team to Mexico stands up and he says, "I just refuse to believe it." In so many words, "I'll take the F." The teacher wanted to know why and he said, "I just went with Bethel Church's team to Mexico. We saw blind eyes open. We saw deaf ears open. We say limbs that were three inches too short. I saw them grow out myself. There's no way in the world you can get me to believe in evolution." The teacher was just stunned and silent. When the class was over the entire class gathered around this one student and he led fourteen of them to Christ. It's amazing! What a privilege to sit in the middle of an unbelieving environment and be a believer. My goodness! What a treat just to sit in the middle of chaos and say, "I trust Jesus."

You've got to capture your moments, because when you lose your moments to fear and anxiety, we never get those moments back. But God is so glorified when we work to maintain that peace, that place of rest and just express trust and faith in Him. It's the highest of honors.

Here we have David taking off his kingly garments, and Michel, Saul's daughter, King David's wife, who really liked the favor of man. She liked recognition. She'd already been the king's daughter. She knew what it was to have things happen at her wish and her command, and she was very embarrassed when David took off the garments and danced wildly. She tried to humiliate him, and David said, "Honey, you ain't seen nothing yet. If you think I was wild today, we just got Him in the house. I'm going to go wilder than this." He said, "And I will be more undignified than this," and he takes it a step farther. He says, "I'm going to be humble in my eyes, but those that are truly the servants realize that humility is not a place of dishonor, but a place of honor." So we see passion once again. Passion expressed for the presence of the Lord that was unusual. And that religious demon, that spirit that opposes the work of God, oftentimes hooks people by getting them overwhelmed with wondering what others think. So here we have Michel, Saul's daughter, paranoid because her husband was humiliated before a nation. What was she doing in the palace anyway? The rest of Israel lined the streets. It's amazing how awkward worship looks when it's others that are doing it. It's so easy to criticize the passion of people that you're not with. My heart's not joined with them. I'm not willing to express myself with the same extreme or same extravagance. And here Michel the daughter of Saul sits there with the spirit of criticism, criticizing the one in the crowd that pleased God. How many of you know, that's a real bummer? She ends up not having any children to the day of her death. Passion is the key to fruitfulness in life.

Let's just be really practical. If you're passionate about your job, there's probably a good chance you're going to succeed and prosper. Just in the natural. If you believe in what you're doing and there's a passion, you're taking it beyond discipline. You love what you do. You love working in that nursery, you love being the doctor or whatever it is that you do. You love being a housewife, caring for the children. Whatever you do, you pour yourself in with passion and zeal and you prosper. You can't help but prosper. In the things of the Lord, passion is supposed to mark our extravagance to God. King David was the one who said, "I'm not going to give anything that doesn't cost me. This isn't about money, but it's so easy to apply it to every area of life. It's about the generous heart. It's about our relationship with the Lord and how do we live? Does the well get so dry that you survive by discipline? Does that happen very often? If it happens often, take a check. There's a leak somewhere. There's a leak that ought not to be, because we were never designed to live merely out of discipline. It's a nice boundary when things are tough, but it's not supposed to be the way of life.

See, there are standards for how we relate to the Lord. David says,"I'm not going to give God anything that doesn't cost me." There are three standards that we see in scripture for giving. The first is that we give Him the first fruits. What does that mean? You give off the top whether you can afford it or not. See, a life without passion is a budgeted life for Jesus. You budget yourself for Jesus. Well how glorious is that? I've budgeted myself. I give you portions. My grandfather was passionate. He was passionate about God. I remember as a young kid we'd go to restaurants and he'd say this all the time and one day I finally had the nerve to ask him. He'd get a salt shaker that didn't give a whole bunch (and he loved salt), he'd shake the salt shaker. If it didn't give a whole bunch he'd put it down in frustration and say, "It's a tither." And I said, "Grandpa, what do you mean,it's a tither?" He said, "It only gives what it has to." You know, I really could care less if anybody looks at this house as a disciplined house. But I sure hope they know you burn. See, the three standards of Scripture for our giving, and whether it's an offering or whether it's the way we treat each other, it is coming Sunday morning ready to minister and to serve other. It is the extravagant way that we live life; it's capturing our moments. It's our approach to what God's given us to do as our assignments. It's the fact that we refuse to reduce life down to a routine.

And so the Lord looks for the first fruits. The second thing is that He looks for the best. We give Him the first and we give Him the best. In the Old Testament, it was a lot easier to measure because they'd sacrifice a lamb. They'd go into the flock and if they saw one limping they'd say, "Well, I can't sell that one anyway. I'll sacrifice it to God. What's it going to matter; we're going to burn the thing? I mean, it's kind of a waste to burn a healthy one." So Malachi the prophet gets totally ticked off and says,"You wouldn't do that for the governor if he was coming over for dinner. You wouldn't go up and whack a lame lamb and try to feed him with it. So why are you doing that to God?" So He looks for the best. It's in the way we offer ourselves to the Lord in service and the way we love each other in God.

I like fountain pens. I just like fountain pens. But when it's time to give one away, I can't give one of the cheapies away. I've got to take the best one. I've got to take my prized ones. Those are the ones I have to always give away. You just do it as unto the Lord. If you're going to do something as unto the Lord, then give the best. If you're just going to do it for credit, then give whatever you want. If you're happy with the glory of man, give whatever one you want, take the strokes, and be happy with it. But if you're going to honor the Lord, you give the best. It's just what you do. It's the way we live.

We give the first, we give the best, and then we give extravagantly. That's the nature of life in God's extravagance. Why? Because they are the excellent ones, in whom is all our delight (according to Psalm 16). Extravagance is just the privilege of the believer. So we've got Hannah's deal. She just didn't care what people thought, and she ended up getting her reward by receiving an answered prayer. We've got David dancing wildly with his wife is totally ticked off. That affected their relationship so much she didn't have kids for the rest of her life. It's amazing what offense does. It's amazing what dials up offense too when people are passionate. You know, when you're not joined with a passionate one, passion looks foreign and often attention-getting. How many of you know, if you're in the crowd and you're not extravagant with God, David looks like a fool? He looks like he's trying to get attention. See, faith looks like arrogance to those filled with unbelief. So we've got David dancing wildly before the Lord, and the one who didn't like it becomes barren.

It reminds me of the woman who brought the alabaster vial out. It took a year's worth of income to buy this ointment. Whatever you'd make in a year, that's what it would cost. And it didn't have a screw-top lid or a spray thing. You had to open it by breaking it, so once it was open, it was open. She broke the alabaster vial open and poured it over Jesus. And Jesus said, "What you've done will be as a memorial to you," which basically means, "Throughout all of eternity, you will be a reference point of passion." You look in the dictionary of God, her picture's right next to "passion." Everybody's going to know what it looks like by your example. The disciples were totally ticked off and asked, "Why this waste?" They had to think of some good "religious" reason, so they said, "We could have given it to the poor." The real problem was it didn't make sense to take ointment and pour it out and have it just dissipate. The fragrance is here now; it's going to disappear by noon. Tomorrow it won't be around any more. What's the use of that? So they saw it as waste, yet passion counts in heaven. It is currency in the Kingdom.

The third story is actually a prophetic word in Isaiah 54 where it says, "Shout for joy, barren one." It's just an amazing passage. I don't know if we've studied this since I've been here, but I make reference to the principle quite often. It's an amazing principle: shout for joy while you're barren. Anyone can shout after you're pregnant. Anyone can rejoice after they've won the Reader's Digest Sweepstakes. It doesn't take a spiritual giant. Every October at the end of the World Series, somebody will give thanks to God because they won. Show me the guy rejoicing in the loser's dugout, and I'll show you a real believer.

Listen, I don't know if you're getting this or not. Your joy changes the world around you. That's what it comes down to. Your joy takes infertility and makes it fertile. Your joy causes things around you to alter and to change. Your atmosphere shifts by what is exploding right here. When Jesus said, "The Kingdom is within you," He is saying, "Joy releases my world and alters the conditions of the circumstances around you." Joy is a choice that is made, sometimes, with trembling. But it must be expressed. It cannot be quietly contained in the heart. They brought the presence of the Lord into the city with shouting and the blasting of the trumpets. They didn't bring it in bowing low with quiet reverence. Sometimes you'll blow up if you try to do that. Sometimes there will be body parts everywhere. There are just certain things that have to take on expression. Joy was one of those things that was never meant to quietly reside in the heart. It has to be demonstrated. It can;t just be demonstrated through, "Oh. I'm happy" Somehow my body wants to display what's going on. So David dances wildly. In Isaiah 54, it's, "Sing for joy. Shout for joy, barren one." Why? "Because you're going to pass up the woman that's been having kids all this time. The sons of the desolate one will be more than the sons of the married one. You're going to be making twins and triplets while she's making one at a time." The point is: this measure of fruitfulness that is simply beyond comprehension will surpass the natural boundaries you've been restricted by. You're going to live supernaturally while others live naturally. They may have been bearing fruit all along because of the favor on their lives. But this that is shifting in you is going to give you supernatural increase to bypass the one that's been productive all along. It's the "shout for joy", it's the "extravagant worship."

You know, the goal isn't to get people to dance in the aisles. The goal is to get people to burn in their souls. I can dance without joy. I can dance just because it's the right thing to do. We know how to measure up to expectations. The burning is what is necessary. It's the burning, the passion, and the thing that wakes you in the night when you find yourself just praying and asking for more of God. It's the first fruits of the morning when you wake and your first thoughts are, "Oh, I'm so desperate. I need so much more of God's touch in my life." It's one of the simplest truths in the Bible: "Don't worry. Be happy." Somebody wrote a song about it. I don't know if you're getting this. Happy people leak Jesus into their circumstances until they change.

It's just a better way to live. Jesus, help me to never reduce you to discipline. The Lord spoke to Don Potter once and said, "I don't want to be your habit. I want to be your friend." I tell you, there's religious routine, and it doesn't mean things should stop. If you witness every day and that's your routine, don't stop that. You might tithe or pray "x" amount of times, but don't stop the routine. It's not evil. You don't prove anything by stopping, yet you need a fire burning in there along with those things. So you start making the focus, "God, I'm not content to just do things just 'because they're the right thing to do. I've got to be burning in my soul.'" See, if I obey out of discipline, I adjust my insides to what God is saying and doing, and that's fine. But when I do it out of passion, I adjust my outsides. I change everything outside of me, and everything that I come in contact with. When I live out of passion, I'm contagious. When I live out of discipline, I'm admired. So I just say, "Come get me, Jesus! Just increase, increase this burning in my soul. I am not content to reduce my walk with you to a habit or a discipline. I am not content to just do things merely because they are the right thing to do. God, I must burn with true biblical passion. I must reflect back to you the burning you have for me." The Bible says there's fire in His eyes. I pray that the fire in His eyes ignites our hearts so that we burn with a holy passion. It's not just an emotional up and down, because emotions rise and fall, but passion doesn't ever have to fall. True biblical passion will burn as long as you have something worth burning on the altar. As long as you give Him something worth burning, there will be fire. The moment we recalibrate our values to be safe and budgeted, we budge our worship. Boring. Absolutely. A worship service where everything is nice and is in control is not only boring, but also budgeted. It is not extravagant, and I don't like the absence of extravagance. I like passion for God. I like to burn in my soul. I don't have to jump and I don't have to shout; it's just going to happen. I won't ever forget the first time I danced before the Lord. I was all by myself and I turned fifteen shades of red. I was the only one in the house, the window shades were drawn, and I was sure CBS was filming the entire event. I was so aware of what I looked like as I danced before the Lord. But you know what? Something was off of me when I was through that was on me when I started. It's hard to keep the cobwebs of "religion" on your soul when you just choose to celebrate the goodness of God. I'll tell you, in some of my darkest moments, I would go out somewhere in the woods or down to the church, somewhere, and whatever measure of darkness seemed to be over me, I would celebrate to the same degree. The darker it was the more wild and extreme I would get. I would go down and turn the stereo up full blast and start shouting to God. I'd just dance and leap and twist in the air. I'll never forget the first time I danced before the Lord; I jumped and I leaped in the house by myself. I was just jumping and leaping and twisting and turning. I don't dance, so all I knew to do was to jump and twist and turn. My dad taught on worship just a few weeks later and said, "This word 'exult' means to leap in the air with twisting and turning," and I went, "I did that! I did that!" I'll tell you what, depressed demons don't like hanging around happy Christians. You repel them! So, this is the prescription. Rejoice, with trembling if need be, but rejoice. Extravagance is the way we live and the way we give. We give the first and we give the best. I don't want to give Him the leftovers of my life. Amen.
